More Cruise Details

PASSPORT, PLEASE!

A valid passport will be necessary to board the ship.  Carnival strongly recommends that all guests travel with a valid passport during their cruise. As you may have seen or read in the news, the process to acquire a new passport is taking 3-4 months (or longer)! You are personally responsible for securing a valid passport. Please begin doing so now!

The U.S. Government will soon require all of our guests (including U.S. citizens) to be in possession of a valid passport when traveling on any Carnival cruise. Foreign nationals should contact their respective governments to obtain further details. This requirement may become effective as early as Summer 2008.

Visit Carnival for the latest Passport Requirements.

AIRFARE DISCOUNT
AMERICAN AIRLINES is the preferred airline for traveling to the 2008 AATH Conference.  Call 1-800-433-1790.  Please reference AATH Authorization Code: A3818AA.  Save 5%.  Save an additional $10 if you book online: www.aa.com.  Discounts are good for travel dates January 27 - February 7, 2008.

VIRTUAL VENDORS:
Ship regulations preclude AATH vendors from selling their physical product on board.  However, AATH vendors can take orders and send the product to their customers after the cruise.  For information on becoming a “virtual vendor,” please contact the AATH office: 888-747-AATH (2284) Toll Free or 949-715-4681 International.

DRESS CODE:
Casual and resort attire is fine for the daytime.  Formal evening attire is required only for the Captain's Cocktail Party.  Gentlemen should bring a sports coat.  Bring a pair of sandals and sneakers or good walking shoes.  Bring a sweater or jacket for cool evenings. No jeans or shorts allowed in the Dining Room.

TRAVELING TO SAN DIEGO & AATH ACCOMMODATIONS:
Our ship leaves San Diego Harbor promptly at 4:00pm on Thursday, January 31.  We do not want you to miss the boat!  Please avoid flight times that will have you “cutting it close.”  If you are traveling a great distance, we highly advise that you arrive in San Diego a day early.  And after the cruise, perhaps you might choose to stay in San Diego for a few days.  Either way, AATH has made special lodging arrangements.

Please contact the DoubleTree Hotel (formerly Radisson San Diego Harbor View).  Call 619-239-6800.  AATH is holding a block of rooms at a discounted rate of $149.  This rate is good for 3 days before and after the cruise.

The DoubleTree Hotel runs a courtesy shuttle to/from the airport and to/from the San Diego Harbor.

CARNIVAL FUN PASS:
At the time of booking, Carnival will advise guests of the Fun Pass to complete before they get to the pier.  Visit www.carnival.com/mycruise and enter information for Homeland Security.  You will need to know flight arrangements before calling.  The Fun Pass does not have to be done right away as long as it is completed before embarkation day.

RESEARCH POSTER SESSION:
Based on the positive response to last year’s inaugural research poster session, we’re doing it again!  AATH invites posters featuring either emerging or completed humor or laughter-related research studies.  Authors are encouraged to be present to discuss their study.  Stay up-to-the-minute with the research that is informing and affecting our industry.  Visit our website for submission information.

CANCELLATION POLICIES:
For AATH Conference: Before January 15, 2008 – subject to a $50 cancellation-processing fee. No refunds for cancellations after January 15, 2008 or for conference no-shows.

For Carnival Cruise:  After December 3, 2007 - $150/per person.  After January 2, 2008 - 50% per person.  After January 24, 2008 – full penalty.
