• “Happy
People Don’t Get Sick: The Link Between Joy and Health”, Patricia Raymond , MD, FACG
Doctor Deepak Chopra writes: “Most people say that they would
be happy IF they were healthy. The truth is, that if they WERE happy, they WOULD
be healthy.” The distinguished Doctor Seuss agrees, saying: “In my
world, everyone’s a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!”
Are YOU a pony? Or just someone who wishes they could be both happier and
healthier? Today we’ll explore the science of happiness— whether you are
born with a happiness set point, and whether you can alter your happiness
level without winning the ‘Mega-Millions’ lottery. We’ll discover the
physiological effects of happiness on the body, what diseases are helped
with laughter, and the few that are actually worsened by a good guffaw.

• Laugh Your
Fat Off, – The Role of Humor in Weight Management Heidi Hanna, PhD
Traditional
dieting and exercise can increase the stress response, making sustainable
weight loss nearly impossible. Relaxation and laughter have been shown to help
support healthy behaviors by increasing positive energy, thereby eliminating the
energy deficit that often triggers survival based behaviors such as overeating
and a sedentary lifestyle. Specific weight management strategies that
incorporate humor, positive emotion and social connection will be discussed and
incorporated into a Laugh Your Fat Off tool-kit.
• Cooperative
Games, Initiatives and Activities To Promote Engagement, Learning, Smiles and

people. Session participants will learn by doing and while 100%

and participants can choose their level of involvement. With only 1 hour
of presentation time, this time will be limited to play (defined differently
dependent on group involved) and leaving only a few minutes for debriefing and
offering options for reflection, processing and connection making.

• Laughter is
in the Details, Matthew Della Porta, PhD- In this
session Dr. Della Porta will review techniques for finding humor in everyday situations.
Beginning with a review of the happiness-related benefits of humor and
laughter, the session will then focus on mindful observation and how it can be
used to more carefully examine a mundane experience. By focusing on the details
that we often don't notice, session attendees will come away with a better
understanding of how to find humor in the places we least expect to find it.
• Starting and
Running an On-Going Humor Support Group, Linda MacNeal- Of course
you’ve all heard of Book Clubs whose members get together to discuss books.
Well, did you ever think to start a Humor Club where people gather to
learn to add more humor to their lives? I did. And it proved so
useful that I have continued to implement programs at several corporations as
well. In this breakout session, I will give
you:
• Sample agendas for
meetings
• Specific meeting content
and sample assignments
• Rationale for
each element of a typical meeting
Developing new habits takes time and
attention, that’s why this structure works so well. Humor Clubs really do
change lives. I’m so grateful that it transformed mine!
• Seeing
Demise Thru Humorous Eyes, Allen Klein– Death and
dying situations are not funny. Still comedians, cartoonists, and
cinematographers show us that it is possible to laugh during times of
loss. In doing so they not only help us get a different perspective on
our situation but also help us get the upper hand on the inevitable. In
other words, through laughter comedians, cartoonists, and cinematographers show
us that death doesn’t have to be such a grave matter.

It doesn’t have to take 9 months and it doesn’t have to be painful! We’ll cover
the very first steps you need to know - your WHO and your WHY - and we’ll
discuss the HOW TO of getting your book into the world, and all the ways a book
creates opportunities for you, even before it’s written.

Final Wrap-up
Why
can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then
just stay together? I guess that wouldn't work. Someone would
leave. Someone always leaves. Then we would have to say
good-bye. I hate good-byes. I know what I need. I need more
