Dr. Mel Borins is a family physician in private practice in Toronto Canada.
He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and on active staff at St. Joseph's Health Centre. He was on the Faculty of the Bayer Institute for Health Care Communication for many years.
He is responsible for teaching Complementary and Alternative Medicine to the Medical Students at the Faculty of Medicine and has been the course director of a post- graduate course in Psychotherapy and Counselling for practicing family physicians for the past six years. He has also been the Course Director of many programs in Psychotherapy and Complementary Medicine for physicians.
He is author of the books “Go Away Just for the Health of It” and "An Apple a Day- a Holistic Health Primer". His articles on Laughter, Psychotherapy, Acupuncture, Traditional Healing, Herbs and Complementary medicine have appeared in many respected medical journals.
Dr. Borins has lectured to many diverse medical and non-medical audiences in Canada, U.S.A., India, Japan, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka and New Zealand on health and healing. For over twenty years he has lectured and given workshops on the therapeutic effects of laughter and play.
