A highly sought humorist and internationally recognized expert in therapeutic humor, Karyn Buxman shows people how to manage their stress and improve their bottom line through humor and laughter.  Through her years of research and experience, she’s determined that humor and its powerful consequences offer benefits in the work place that can be the catalyst for change that will move groups forward and allow individuals to live more positive, productive and happier lives.  Clients range from the Mayo Clinic to The Million Dollar Round Table. She has the distinct privilege of being an RN for over 25 years.

She has earned the National Speakers Association’s (NSA) Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation (held by less than 7% of professional speakers), and is one of only 166 experts (26 women) in the world awarded admission into the NSA Speaker Hall of Fame (CPAE).  She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor, was honored by the University of Missouri as one of the distinguished 2003 Faculty Alumni Award winners. She has appeared journals such as Woman’s Day, Shape, Marie Claire as well as AJN, AACN Clinical Issues and Journal of Psychosocial Nursing. She’s also a contributing author for Chicken Soup for the Nurses Soul and publisher of The Journal of Nursing Jocularity.

 

Earned Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation from National Speakers Association (NSA) in 1998. Fewer than 8% of NSA's 3800+ members hold this designation.

Co-Founder of World Laughter Tour in 1999.

Inducted into NSA's CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame in 2001. One of 30 women in the world to receive the honor.

Awarded The University of Missouri-Columbia Faculty-Alumni Award in 2003.

Recipient of the AATH Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004.
