AATH members are a unique subset of people. We aren't people who are spared disappointments or life's harsh realities. But we have developed the skills to find humor in even the most challenging of situations. We choose to embrace a positive attitude and are not afraid to celebrate the good things in life.
Sometimes we come from a family or culture with little appreciation for humor and laughter. Sadly, the media tends to cover stories that induce fear and focus on tragedy. In a world of disillusionment and negativity, our sunny dispositions and propensity for playfulness can sometimes make us feel like outsiders.
That's why we need each other! AATH friends “get” one another! While there are not formal local AATH chapters at this time, members are always encouraged to get together regionally or locally.
If you would like to create a local event, simply let the office know. They will help you get the word out. A local event can be as simple as a shout out to gather for an informal potluck. It can be a casual meet and greet to introduce friends and family to AATH, or it can be an organized event commemorating an occasion like National Humor Day or Month. Some groups meet regularly to discuss marketing and small business development. Others take an improv or comedy class together. Be sure and report back to the rest of us through the List Serv and the AATH Facebook page. We would all enjoy a short re-cap article in the Humor Connection, too! Let us hear what's going on in your neck of the woods!
