Meet David Jacobson

David Jacobson is a shining (and award winning) example of therapeutic humor in action.

Diagnosed with a severe from of arthritis at age 22, David discovered humor and laughter eased his pain and helped him cope with adversity.

In his roles as medical social worker, professional speaker, author and educator, David continues to inspire and assist others who are facing painful or difficult circumstances.

David was heavily involved with the aftermath of the Tucson shootings. As the manager of the social work for the victims and the families, David met President Barack Obama and FIrst Lady Michele Obama. Here he is pictured with Gabby Gifford’s outreach Coordinator and shooting victim, Pam Simon.

Confidentiality prevents David from sharing the details, but he reports that after the initial shock of the first several days, there were many instances patients and families used humor and laughter to cope with the tragedy.
