Remembering Doug Fletcher

Doug Fletcher, RN, was a nurse, publisher, AATH member, and passionate advocate for therapeutic humor. He founded and published The Journal of Nursing Jocularity, a magazine that brought humor to healthcare professionals through stories and cartoons contributed by nurses across the country.

Doug also organized humor-focused nursing conventions throughout the United States, including convention cruises, and helped create and perform Who's Got the Keys?

Following his death in a car accident on May 1, 1998, AATH established this lifetime achievement award to honor his legacy and recognize those whose work continues to advance the understanding and use of humor.
